Armenians drink copious amounts of alcohol, as much as in other CIS countries, but-aside from the trendy bar scene in Yerevan (which are as alcohol and drug laden as any venue in the world), you rarely see the kind of drunken behavior associated with Russia or other ex-Soviet states.
The Armenian Apostolic Church still uses the old Julian Calendar, Christmas is celebrated on January 6th. The Christmas holiday season starts on New Year's Eve (December 31st) and continues until the old Julian calendar's New Year's Eve on January 13th.
Armenia is a landlocked mountainous country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Situated at the juncture of Western Asia and Eastern Europe, it is bordered by Turkey to the west, Georgia to the north, the de facto independent Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and Azerbaijan to the east, and Iran and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the south.
