Malta national and public holidays

These days are to be observed as public holidays and it is by law that the National Flag of Malta is flown on public buildings on such days. There are 5 national holidays during the year: Independence Day, Republic Day, Freedom Day, Feast of Our Lady of Victories and Sette Giugno.

Education in Malta

Education in Malta is compulsory through age sixteen and is offered through three different providers: the state, the church and the private sector. The state is responsible for promoting education and instruction and ensuring universal access to education for all Maltese citizens the existence of a system of schools and institutions accessible to all Maltese citizens.

Malta Currency: From the Malta Lira to the Euro

Today, the EURO is the Malta currency. The Euro replaced the old currency of Malta (i.e. the Maltese Lira) on the 1st of January 2008.
